About The Walk

When: Wednesdays, 9:00-10:15 p.m.
Where: The Main Worship Center at Sevier Heights

The Walk is a college and young adult worship gathering at Sevier Heights Baptist Church.

Our Goal: To change the way you view church.

Expectations. We all have them. What’s your expectation for church? The Walk wants to replace that expectation with an experience that defines the church as it was meant to be: A reflection of the purpose and personality of Jesus Christ. Plainly put, The Walk wants to change the way you view church. Live music, influential teaching, and free food all combine to redefine your definition of church. Be a part of the change. Be a part of what the church is meant to be.

Small Group Sign-Ups

You come to The Walk and feel slightly overwhelmed by the massive room and by the people milling around. You’re not real sure how you’re expected to meet people, to connect with people, if everyone’s going 23074 different directions. Welp, we’re going to nip that problem right in the bud. (Sidenote: What’s a nip and why are so many buds in need of them?)

Small groups help you to create, and grow, connections with other students who attend The Walk. We’ll put you in a group with people your same gender and age, struggling with the same issues. Your small group is where you can ask the tough questions, tackle the confusing issues and find the encouragement that you’ve been missing. People who may start as strangers could quickly prove themselves as the best friends you’ve ever had.

Fill out the form below and give it a shot. We’ll put you in a group that fits your schedule, so don’t worry about “busyness.” Everyone needs a breather. Small groups are your breath of fresh air…and some even have baked goods. Eating AND breathing?! What a combo.

Submit the form below and see the impact a small group of close friends can have on your life.

The Bachelors

Thursday, February 02, 2012 ~ 4:55 pm

Single? In a relationship? Awkwardly dating? “Talking”? (Whatever that means…) We’ve got you covered.
The Bachelors starts Tuesday, February 7 at The Walk.
Hear about some guys throughout scripture who thought they were doing relationships right. They weren’t.
A lot of the mistakes made then are the same mistakes made now. Maybe the rough patches don’t have to be so rough.
Come find out every Tuesday in February.
And one more thing - we happen to have our very own Bachelor and he’s looking for a lady. Help him find her.

Growing Relationships over Getting Results

Tuesday, January 31, 2012 ~ 3:19 pm

In the following weeks, we want to give insight into what keeps us up at night. We want to clearly communicate the values God has entrusted us with to shape The Walk. The urgent desire to reflect these values leaves us tossing and turning through the night. Our third week focused on Growing Relationships over Getting Results.

In our relationship with Christ, focusing on results leaves us frustrated. We can’t rely only on results because the walk is too demanding, the enemy is too determined and our flesh is too destructive.

Growing a relationship with Christ isn’t about trying, it’s about trusting. It’s not about determination, it’s about dependence.

“I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.” John 15:5

We want to focus on association, not just imitation. Imitation is just trying. Association is dependence. The Walk wants to lead students into a growing, thriving, abiding relationship with Jesus.

What needs to change in our lives to show our focus lies on growing a relationship, not on getting results?

“Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ.” Romans 8:1

I can’t keep doing the things I used to do because I’m not the person I used to be.

We value growing relationships over getting results.

What’s Lost over What’s Found

Tuesday, January 24, 2012 ~ 4:38 pm

In the following weeks, we want to give insight into what keeps us up at night. We want to clearly communicate the values God has entrusted us with to shape The Walk. The urgent desire to reflect these values leaves us tossing and turning through the night. Our second week focused on What’s Lost over What’s Found.

It’s simple. Christ came for the lost. Reflecting His purpose and personality requires going after the one. Christ did it, so we’ll do it too.

“Here is a trustworthy saying that deserves full acceptance: Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners—of whom I am the worst.” 1 Timothy 1:15

We value what’s lost over what’s found.
